Skull Applique - free crochet pattern

Just in time for Halloween... I searched for a crochet pattern for a little skull, with the hopes to use skull and crossbones as a buckle on a new pair of slippers I've just finished for my little guy (photos soon!). Not being happy with any patterns I could found, decided to try my hand at writing my own... I'm quite pleased with the results, though being my first crochet pattern I hope I've written it clearly - please, be kind :)

Scrap yarn, any weight; white for skull, black for face, contrasting color for bow
Crochet hook, size appropriate to yarn used

Gauge: Not important, a larger hook and heavier yarn will result in a larger appliqué.
(For reference, the samples pictured: using an H hook and worsted weight yarn, skull measures about 2.5 inches tall by 2 inches wide.)

Using the magic loop method, sc 6 times in a ring
Rnd 2: 2sc in each st (12 sts)
Rnd 3: (hdc, 2dc, hdc) in first st, (sc in next, 2sc in next) five times, sc in last. (20 sts.)
Rnd 4: (hdc, dc) in first st, (dc, trc) in next, (trc, dc) in next, (dc, hdc) in next, (sc in next 2, 2sc in next) four times, sc in next 2, sl st in last. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Add facial features using French knots with black yarn (see photo for placement).
Bow... to make it girly
Ch 7
(dc, hdc) in third chain from hook, sc in next, sl st in next, sc in next, (hdc, 2dc, trc, 2dc, hdc) in last. Now working on back loops, sc in next, sl st in next, sc in next, (hdc, 2dc, trc) in next (same ch as first dc, hdc). Fasten off, weave in ends. Wrap a piece of yarn around center several times to cinch into bow shape, knot, and use ends to attach to skull.
~ happy crocheting!
